A well-designed brand image will attract potential clients or customers and give them another reason to choose you. Unfortunately, many entrepreneurs find the idea of being in front of a camera unbearable, so they often leave this important task at the bottom of their to-do list. And while I agree that in this situation short-term pain leads to long-term (and measurable) gains, the following five steps will help ease the discomfort and increase your chances of having a positive shooting experience. trade mark.

1. If you don't plan, you plan to fail.
In my experience, the most successful shoots are the ones that take a long time to shoot. Planning and understanding are key to ensuring that the images we create together not only speak specifically to your brand, but also allow us to work as efficiently as possible.

Some photographers, myself included, can provide guides to help you plan your shoot, as well as other aids (eg Pinterest, Google Docs/Images, etc.). Usually when a session occurs there is no unknown pressure. The photographer and client can focus on what matters most: the photos.
By predetermining the overall feel or atmosphere of your session, you increase the chances that you will be as happy with the end result as your photographer delivers the photos. Thinking about how you want to use the images (upcoming releases, product features, seasonal offerings, etc.) will allow you to intentionally create relevant images for future travel.

2. Choose clothes
Vanity aside, clothing and personal style decisions are very important. As humans, we are often overly critical of our appearance, to the point where we may decide to give up the experiment altogether. But again, preparation is key. Choosing clothes that you feel comfortable and confident in will help you express your best self. It doesn't have to be expensive (although, of course, that's your specialty). Often, with a little creativity and "inspiration," the pieces in your own closet, possibly connected in ways you never imagined possible, become the perfect solution.
By trying on a potential outfit with a friend or partner and taking a few quick cell phone photos from different angles, you can get an idea of what look to choose. Avoid wearing bright colors or off-brand designs. Likewise, avoid wearing logos/words unless they are part of your branding.

Avoid accessories and things that are too trendy. Not only can they be distracting, but they can also make your photos age prematurely. Of course, when choosing a dress, you also need to consider the hemline, neckline, and so on. No professional hair and/or makeup is required, but it can make your photos look sophisticated. If you need recommendations for personal service providers, please consult your photographer. It is not uncommon for photographers to have a list of suppliers they have had positive experiences with.
3. Place, place and place
One of the first steps in planning a branding session is deciding where to host it. With a specific idea or even a few options in mind, you can form the basis of your session. Choosing the right location for a photo can mean taking photos at your residence, in a photo studio, or even somewhere "in nature". Be aware of how your positioning may complement or detract from the message or brand story you want to convey with your images. And dream big—the most creative spaces often create the most dynamic looks.

4. Strike a pause
While most photographers spend a lot of time researching and cataloging different poses to use when shooting, taking the time before taking a photo to look at your likes and dislikes can help streamline your session. Transfer these likes and dislikes before shooting so the photographer can focus on shooting you in the way that is most comfortable for you. However, give the photographer freedom to get creative in their comfort zone. You never know when you might be pleasantly surprised.
5. Editing style
Before choosing a photographer, it is important to carefully study his portfolio. You will often find that photographers have a certain style in which they edit. Some may prefer dark and dark images, while others may prefer light and bright images. Remember, as with any art form, over time photographers develop the style that makes them famous. It is best not to assume that the photographer has the ability or interest to change his style. Although, aside from editing, you will never be able to apply filters or edit photos distributed (unless you have a proprietary system). This is problematic for several reasons. In addition to changing the photographer's editing style, which often alienates potential clients, additional editing of an already edited image is equivalent to editing a copy of the original painting. Image quality deteriorates as each level of editing is created. Although there are some editorial considerations, having a quick, open, and honest conversation before the session can defuse an uncomfortable discussion after the session.
