BAM Marketing Agency Announces Shriners Childrens “Watch Me” Campaign Wins Regional EMMY Award

Street. LOUIS, MO (November 17, 2022) BAM Marketing Agency is proud to announce that its Watch Me campaign has been honored with a Regional EMMY by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences at the 46th Central America Regional EMMY Awards. Bonus: 'Look at Me' is an integrated multi-media patient acquisition campaign developed by marketing agency BAM for client Shriners Children's. The Central America Regional EMMY Awards, presented by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, recognize broadcast talent in 15 select markets.

The concept behind the Watch Me campaign is to highlight life-changing care at Shriners Children through simple, celebratory activities that children may have thought impossible before entering Shriners Children's Care, said Ryan McMichael, BAM's Executive Creative Director. The footage features Shriners Children's, a leading pediatrician, with a lyrical message about the patient's story and positive outcomes, and the child exclaiming, "Look at me, look at me!"

"Whether or not their child has medical needs, any parent can relate to a time when they are proud of their child's accomplishments and want to 'see' them succeed," McMichael said. “This campaign really raises money through the real stories of patients and shows how Shriners Children's is a vital part of helping children with medical needs.”

The children shown behind the scenes are patients at Shriners Children's, not professional actors. The setting features Emmy award-winning "Watch Me - The Gridiron" Parker, a pediatric patient at Shriners in North Carolina whose leg has been amputated in a horrific car accident. Thanks to the Shriners Children's sponsorship and a special prosthesis he got from them, Parker has appeared in commercials as a football player playing his favorite sport.

Mel Bauer, chief communications and marketing officer for Shriners Children's, said the campaign was a success because BAM was able to demonstrate that in the nonprofit health system, patient care goes beyond a patient's immediate medical needs.

Bauer said the "Look at Me" campaign showcases the actions that happen every day in the Shriners Children's system. BAM Marketing Agency has done an excellent job of capturing what we do at Shriners Children's. We are grateful to have a marketing partner who understands our depth and mission. We are excited to see the future.

“At BAM, we've always focused on the best creative and informational distribution for our clients,” said Bonnie Burns, CEO and founder of BAM Marketing Agency. “Shriners Children's inspire what we do with their mission, their patients, and their stories, and we're thrilled to recognize the good work of our talented creative team.”

The campaign featured a total of eight TV programmes, highlighting pediatric orthopedics, scoliosis, prosthetics, sports injuries, cleft lip and palate, and burn skills. Print, digital and outdoor media efforts and social media graphics were all part of the broader campaign. BAM Marketing Agency was responsible for all aspects of the Watch Me campaign, from concept to production. This includes ideation, screenwriting, talent selection, shooting, editing, art direction, social media development, and media distribution.

In addition to the award-winning Gridiron site, two other sites in the campaign have been nominated for regional EMMIs in the same individual workplace category.
